WED, NOV 28 @ City Winery
Canned Heat
What a history this band has...playing at the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival with Hendrix and Joplin, and collaborating with legends like John Mayall, Little Richard and John Lee Hooker.  And, yes it's true that founding members Alan “Blind Owl” Wilson, Bob “The Bear” Hite, Henry “The Sunflower” Vestine and a few other musicians that replaced them have all passed away. The current lineup does include two original members: Larry “The Mole” Taylor on bass, an experienced session musician who played with Jerry Lee Lewis and The Monkees (now there's a versatile guy) and Adolfo “Fito” de la Parra on drums. They are joined by Dale Spalding(harmonica, guitar and lead vocals) and John “JP” Paulus (guitar, bass and vocals). I'm curious, are you?

A FEW THINGS TO KNOW:

  • The band has 38 albums (Are you kidding me?)
  • Fito has written a book, Living the Blues, that tells Canned Heat's story of music, drugs, sex and survival. Interestingly, it will soon be a major motion picture directed by Mike Judge.
